Traci's Journey

Traci Blank is a medical support clinical hypnotherapist committed to helping people be their best selves. She started her career in social work, working for the state of NJ, assisting children with mental and behavioral health issues. As with many people in social work, Traci overworked herself and ended up in the hospital with vision loss and loss of sensation on one side of her body. Initially, the doctors thought these symptoms reflected a diagnosis of MS. Eventually, after going out to the Mayo Clinic, they concluded this was a physical manifestation of anxiety. After working with psychologists and medication, Traci sought the help of a hypnotherapist. After her first session, the physical symptoms began to subside, and by the 5th session, she was off all anxiety medication and has not had a panic attack since. She decided hypnotherapy was the path for her to help others.

Traci trained one-on-one with a hypnotherapist in NYC to receive her certification as a Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt) through the National Guild of Hypnotists. Then, deciding she wanted to be at the top of her field, she trained at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America in Albuquerque, NM. This licensed hypnotherapy school is recognized worldwide as one of the most comprehensive training programs offered in hypnosis. The hypnosis techniques taught there are used in clinical studies through the National Institute of Health and by hypnotists in hospitals around the world. Upon graduation, Traci received certification as a Certified Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist (CMS0CHt). In addition, she trained at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and is certified as a Certified Professional Coach (CPC).

Upon completing her training, Traci worked for over a year as a hypnotherapist for the Chambers Center for Wellbeing at Morristown Hospital in Morristown, NJ. This experience enabled her to work with a variety of clients in the hospital setting in an adjunctive role with their healthcare team. Since then, Traci has had her own practice in Somerville, NJ, where she specializes in helping clients with anxiety and medical support goals using a blend of suggestion therapy and analytical hypnotherapy.

In addition to working with clients, Traci runs workshops and gives talks throughout the community, including:

  • Year talks in schools teaching students how to manage stress and anxiety using the power of the mind

  • As the keynote speaker for the women's nonprofit leadership conference of NJ

  • Lunch and learns to local businesses

  • & more.

About Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a natural yet altered state in which the mind is able to receive helpful suggestions. Typically, the critical factor is a filter between our conscious and subconscious minds. When information comes in, the conscious mind analyzes it and the critical factor checks the subconscious mind for previous memories or beliefs to confirm the information. If it supports a belief already residing in the subconscious, the critical factor allows the information in to further support and reinforce the belief. If it does not support previously held programming, then the critical factor kicks it back to the conscious mind for more processing. During hypnosis, the critical factor is relaxed, giving access to the subconscious brain. Using this state, we can give the subconscious imagery & suggestions to follow or analyze the information in the subconscious to see what blocks & limiting beliefs exist.
